Determine what kind of leave you wish to take.There is a simple timetable for requesting maternity leave, and is as follows: Remember, because of FMLA, you are entitled to take up to 12 weeks without pay regardless. If there are medical complications that make it such that you are unable to physically work after eight weeks, QPS may grant you 12 weeks of paid leave from your sick time if you have a doctor’s note stating you cannot physically do your job AND you have necessary sick leave available in your sick bank. Generally QPS allows for a six-week maximum paid leave for a pregnancy and eight-week maximum for a cesarean section.
